Châteauneuf Chic

The pioneering Isabel Ferrando and daughter Guillemette redefine elegance in the warm Southern Rhône

In 2002, everyone told Isabel Ferrando that purchasing the St.-Préfert estate was a bad bet, with terroir considered inferior that was doomed to produce subpar wines. But since her first 2003 vintage, Ferrando has been proving everyone wrong with her distinctly elegant wines, which are some of the Southern Rhône’s finest. Now, Ferrando has renamed her estate Famille Isabel Ferrando and been joined by her daughter, Guillemette, ushering in a new chapter for her groundbreaking Châteauneuf estate. What does the future of Famille Isabel Ferrando look like now that it’s a two-woman team?

In Wine Spectator’s March 31, 2026, issue cover story, dive into the full life and legacy of Isabel Ferrando.
