Taylor Swift-Endorsed Sancerre Sells Out Amid “Champagne Problems”

This article was originally published on Jan. 9th, 2026. It appears in the April 30, 2026, issue as “Swiftie Sancerre Sells Out Amid “Champagne Problems.”

It’s no mystery that the wine industry has faced some trying times as of late, but if we’ve learned anything over the past few years, good things just “never go out of style.” And if you need to make something cool again, send in the Swifties.

A bottle of Domaine de Terres Blanches Sancerre was briefly, and I mean briefly, seen on a mixing table during the six-episode documentary series, The End of an Era, streaming now on Disney+. But that quick glimpse was enough to send Swifties spiraling to get a taste of what Taylor sips.

The wine, which fans are calling Taylor’s Choice, retails for $40 and has rapidly become a top seller at Total Wine. Stocks sold out, and Google searches for Sancerre surged, in just the latest example of Swiftonomics: the ability for the 36-year-old billionaire to affect the economy through endorsements and business decisions.

“It’s pretty mad. You can’t put a price on it,” Laurent Saget, who runs Domaine de Terres Blanches with his brother Arnaud Saget, told AFP. The Saget family, which has more than 225 years of family history in the Loire Valley, purchased the domaine in 1998 and now produces about 10,000 cases a year. “Even if we had wanted to place one of our bottles in such a widely watched series, we couldn’t have afforded it. It’s nice to have a spotlight land on the appellation and on our domaine.”

The “Champagne Problems” writer’s love of wine is well documented—she has cited wine in her lyrics more than a dozen times and been spotted sipping on fellow artist’s wine labels Ace of Spades Champagne (Jay-Z) and Gaslighter Rosé (The Chicks). When asked what she would bring to a dinner party in 2018, Swift showed no hesitation in responding “white wine…Sancerre, Sauvignon Blanc, and Pinot Grigio” are her favorites. But a specifically Swift-endorsed Sancerre opened up new floodgates for the Swiftie-Sommelier pipeline.

So what does Taylor Swift’s Sancerre of choice taste like? “What’s really important in our wine is the acidity component,” said Arnaud Saget, who visited Wine Spectator in 2016. There “will be fruit, but in our case, it will be driven by the minerality so you feel the terroir in it.”

The 100 percent Sauvignon Blanc wine comes from about 30 acres of predominantly limestone soils within the commune of Bué. “The key component of Sauvignon Blanc is to provide structure into [the] wine,” said Arnaud. It’s fermented in temperature-controlled vats for 20 days, then aged on the lees for six months.

And if Taylor’s choice is sold out at your local wine shop, don’t worry! The Saget family owns several estates across the Loire Valley, including Saget La Perrière, whose Pouilly-Fumé Hauts de Perrière 2023, retails for $33 and received 90 points in blind tasting.
