US Open Service Game Shines with Moët & Chandon Champagne

While Taylor Swift sipped a Honey Deuce, tennis legends Roger Federer and Maria Sharapova raised Moët’s must-have Golden Goblets

Did you hear about Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes drinking Honey Deuce cocktails at the US Open in New York? So did we. Yawn. True tennis aficionados know that there’s only one perfect pairing when it comes to celebrating one of tennis’ Grand Slams, and that’s grande marque Champagne (even when popping bottles are infamously interrupting Novak Djokovic’s serve at Wimbledon).

So it was not a Grey Goose vodka–lemonade–raspberry liqueur cocktail garnished with two honeydew melon balls in a souvenir Honey Deuce plastic cup that tennis all-time greats and former US Open champions Roger Federer and Maria Sharapova reached for at this year’s tournament. It was instead, of course, Champagne. Specifically, US Open Official Champagne Moët & Chandon, in a very Instagrammable US Open x Moët & Chandon Golden Goblet.

Federer, who also serves as one of Moët & Chandon’s official brand ambassadors, was last seen racing about Château de Saran in Champagne with fashion icon Coco Rocha (who also showed up for a Golden Goblet at this year’s Open).

But it wasn’t just the tennis illuminati crowding into the Moët & Chandon suite at the Billie Jean King Tennis Center’s Arthur Ashe Stadium in Queens, N.Y. Reigning NBA champion and 2-time Olympic gold medalist Jayson Tatum raised a Golden Goblet, as did NBA legend–turned–wine pro Carmelo Anthony and current Brooklyn Net Nic Claxton.

There were major Hollywood stars as well! Liev Schreiber, Jessica Biel, Michael Shannon, Zoey Deutch and Maura Tierney were all mesmerized by Moët’s mirrored stemware.

While Jannik Sinner and Aryna Sabalenka went home with 5.5-pound Tiffany-crafted silver bowls, the Golden Goblets were available to all those (of drinking age) who passed through the US Open gates this year, at locations throughout the grounds as well as at the Moët & Chandon Clubhouse bar.

This year’s partnership between the US Open and Moët & Chandon is actually a reunion; Moët was also the official Champagne of the US Open more than a decade ago, during American tennis star Andy Roddick’s final run.

“We are excited to partner with the USTA and US Open as the official Champagne of this iconic event,” read a statement from Sibylle Scherer, president and CEO of Moët & Chandon. “We have a longstanding history of being at the forefront of leading moments in sports, to inspire and celebrate athletes and their teams with our love for excellence, elevating experiences worth sharing, just like the US Open.”
